"Mighty oaks from little acorns grow."
Welcome to Third Grade Video
Important Reminders
School Supplies - Please write your child's name on all of his/her school supplies with a permanent marker or label. This includes each SHARPENED pencil. Since there are many items to "haul" in, feel free to send in main supplies on Monday and community supplies (tissues, disinfectant wipes, Zip-lock bags, hand sanitizer, etc.) on Tuesday. There is limited space in desks, so please review the list of supplies below. Larger sized items or additional tools will not fit. If you bought extra supplies like mechanical pencils, pens, watercolor paints, or other unlisted supplies, please leave them at home. There will not be room in the desk. Perhaps they would be good for at-home creations. I'm happy to hold onto extra pencils so your child can replenish their desk supply as needed.
Water Bottles - Students are allowed to bring water bottles to keep on desks and drink throughout the day. A firm plastic or metal one is best rather than the flimsy disposable ones with twist lids. They go home each day to be washed and filled with cold water and ice for the next day. Water only, please.
Morning Gathering - As students gather between 8:45 and 8:55 in the main hallway, we ask they read or study quietly. Please remind your child to have a book, spelling list, flash cards, etc. in his/her bag to use during this time every day.
Newsletter & Graded Papers - EVERY Friday, I will send home a weekly newsletter attached to your child's graded papers for the week. Please look for them EVERY Friday (or the last day of the week) and review your child's assignments. Class work below 80% (Progressing and Needs Improvement) should be corrected and returned the following Monday for re-grading. Also, if your child misses 3 or more spelling words on Friday's test, he/she should write the missed words 5 times each on the back for extra practice and return Monday.
X and ÷ Facts - Third graders are expected to master all of the X and ÷ facts 0-10 by the end of the year or sooner. Beginning in December, students take timed tests on Tuesdays and Thursday. When your child passes with +20/20, he/she should begin focusing on the next fact family in the series.
