About Mrs. Foley
Welcome to my third grade classroom! My name is Kristen Foley. This is my 20th year teaching for District 87. I began in fourth grade at Sheridan and have been teaching third grade at Oakland for the past 15 years.
I wanted to take this opportunity to share a little about myself with you. My mom was a teacher and inspired me to choose this profession. I attended Illinois State University and graduated summa cum laude and a Bone Scholar in 2000. A master’s degree in reading from ISU followed in 2005. This continual growth and reflection has been central to my life. I plan to continue my studies and polish my skills as an educator so that I can in turn help children become lifelong learners.
In my free time, I enjoy crafting and cooking with my daughters, photography, exploring technology and working in the yard. My husband might add that I like to clean and organize. We joke about that! I love dark chocolate, peanut butter, and coffee--not necessarily together!
My husband, Scott, is an English teacher at BHS. Mr. Foley loves to write. He has published two short story collections, The Imagination's Provocation: Volume I and The Imagination's Provocation: Volume II as well as two novels, Souls Triumphant and Andropia. He also publishes flash fiction for the Nook and Kindle.
Our oldest daughter, Emma, is a sixth grader. She plays guitar and trumpet and enjoys volleyball. Lauren is in second grade this year. She is a Girl Scout and ballerina. We love going on adventures, playing games, watching movies, and reading! Our girls make us laugh every day!
Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about me. I look forward to learning about all of the students in my classroom this year as well as their families.
